The Medical College of Wisconsin began operations in 1936 with the first non-MD graduate degree awarded by the medical faculty of Marquette University School of Medicine. In 1967, after Marquette University ceased sponsoring the medical school and the postgraduate degree programs offered by the medical faculties, the institution became an independent medical school, renamed Marquette School of Medicine. On October 14, the school was renamed the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Applicants must also submit all required supporting materials, such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, test scores (if required), and any other program-specific requirements.

- Test Score: Since 2019, MCW Graduate School has no longer required test scores for admissions. However, some of our admission programs still require test scores, including Biophysics (PhD) – GRE, Biostatistics (PhD) – GRE, and Medical Physiology – MCAT.

- English Language Proficiency Tests: For international applicants who are not currently enrolled in or have not previously graduated from a U.S.-based undergraduate or graduate program (non-online), English proficiency certification is required. We accept many test types, including Duolingo, IELTS, and TOEFL.

- Letters of Recommendation: Recommendation letters must be submitted electronically through our online application system (preferred), as email attachments to gradadmissions@mcw.edu, or by mail.
